The Jolly Gingerbread Custom Dollhouse

The Jolly Gingerbread Dollhouse is ready to ship to it's new owner!
The house is 20" tall x 14 1/2" across x 15"deep.
I did the walls as I always do- covered with plaster. But for this house I tried not to smooth things out too much. I used 3 different brown paints. One regular brown, one light brown and one a yellowish brown. You want to blend the colors from a darker brown on the edges to a lighter brown in the center.
For the icing, I used 3 different types of mediums. One was just regular plaster, one was the light weight spackling plaster and one was Snow-Tex. I piped the icing on with a pastry tip on the end of a ZipLock bag.  Use a bit of hot glue to affix your pastry tip to the inside of the bag and it won't make any mess as you pipe on the icing.
All the candy came from the tiny tree ornament section at Hobby Lobby.
The white and red candy cane trim around the window is wood rope trim I got from Home Depot.

I put a realistic fire led light in the fireplace.

I hope this inspires you to make something special for Christmas! As always thank you so much for taking the time to visit.
hugs❤,

Jolly Gingerbread House Custom Dollhouse

I'm still here!  After taking a week's vacation and filling tons of commission orders I've found a little time to blog!
My next commission is a traditional gingerbread dollhouse. I've made one gingerbread dollhouse before-years ago.  The candy and trimmings are really easy to find. I got mine at Hobby Lobby. They have this section for making tiny Christmas trees with all sorts of candy.
For snow I'm using plaster, snow flakes and Snow-Tex.
I'm also gathering fabrics.
So far construction is the same as any other house. The interior gets done first. We start at the ground floor and work upwards to the bedroom above.

For the cookie exterior, I'm planning on using plaster layered on thick and a bit uneven. I'll let you know how I achieve the look once I experiment a little.
I've already got a few of the accessories done including the working fire in the mantel, table and chairs, chandeliers.
I painted mittens and pine tree branches on the mantel and holly on the chairs.
Until next time!
