Shabby Chic Dollhouse Almost Done

I'm getting close to finishing this shabby chic beach house. I put the curtains up. The white curtains are on a yellow curtain rod. I thought that looked very beachy with the blue walls. The ceiling is grey.
There's a shot of the seashell wall art I made. I covered little pieces of wood with burlap and stuck real seashells on them. I picked up the seashells in St. Petersburg, Florida.

This is on the front porch. I didn't put the partitions on the window. I loved the way the windows looked with one pane of "glass".
Is that sweet or what?
Now, I have to finish the roof.

Shabby Chic Beach Dollhouse

This beach dollhouse is definitely starting to get that shabby chic look! I did the front door and sanded it. It looked very worn and I loved it. So I decided the house should get the shabby chic treatment.

Here's the paneling with the worn look.

This is my favorite part so far: the shabby chic curtains.  These beautiful white curtains are actually sprayed with hairspray. It's a trick I got from Liberty Biberty(a fabulous blog). The curtains are just stiff enough to keep their shape.

Isn't that neat?

I just tried these out. I still have to put them on a little rod.  The other little window on the side is getting a burlap treatment. I also made artwork with a burlap background and a seashell.
I'm now painting all the outside trim in white.

Beach Dollhouse

I've been doing the beach dollhouse interior.
This is my wainscoting. I made the paneling from cardboard that I pulled apart. I painted it white.

Next, I painted the walls blue. See the wood floor? I just lay it out and glue it in place.
I painted the wood floor a nice dark shade for a tropical look.

I put molding on top and bottom of the wainscoting. And I put on one more coat of white.

Dollhouse Flip Flops

I worked on some flip flops. The first ones I made are the ones with the roses. But I thought they looked more like slippers! I listed the slippers on my Etsy shop.

I tried again and here are the little beach flip flops with a Swarovski crystal to go in the beach dollhouse.

Beach Dollhouse

My new project is a beach dollhouse.  I've gathered many ideas by looking at Key West houses.  The first things I've been playing around with are surfboards.  I looked around for dollhouse surfboards, but I didn't find any. So I cut some out of cardboard and painted them.

The surfboards only have one coat of gloss here.  So I'm going to try putting 3 or 4 more coats and see how they look.
This is the kit I went with: the Greenleaf Adam's Dollhouse. Now I have to wait for it to get here!

I chose this kit because it has the porch.  It already looks very close to the Key West dollhouse I've planned.
I also painted the roofing as a metal roof.  I still want to do the siding. But I haven't picked the color yet. So many choices!

Modern House Update

I'm almost done with the modern house. Today I did the windows, the painting, the porch roof, and the little "Restoration Hardware" planters. In the planters, I used bottle brush trees that I had left over from the Christmas Dollhouse project.  I think they look modern enough.

I painted the bricks with yellow based browns. One part of the house is dark grey. The other is light grey. And the trim is a mix of brown and black.

This is what I'm working on now: a little newspaper, letters and I also have a little rock(not pictured).

Modern House

I felt like making something a little different this time.  I decided on a modern paper house. I went surfing the internet for modern designs and got some great ideas. I put everything together and this is the urban dwelling that came out. First, I put all the elements I wanted to include in this little drawing:

Then, I cut out the base, glued on walls and applied concrete. Some concrete I smoothed out and the rest I carved into long bricks.

Window work tomorrow and paint.

Summer Fantasy Cottage Honored Again!

My paper house made another treasury! That is such a good surprise!  I love looking at these wonderful vignettes people put together. This one is by Maria Palito.

Cinderella's Front Porch

I Made another front porch. This one is Cinderella's Front Porch.  When I added the pumpkins it just looked like Cinderella's cottage!

I had a little stack of miniature letters I had made. I think they're love letters from Prince Charming! I made the fairytale pumpkins and the little gnome house on the wall out of paper clay. The roses and leaves are paper I dyed and cut into shape. I made the door knob out of metal.

Here are the sides and back. I think this stone finish is my favorite to create. It's just layers of greys and spots of mildew and aged finishes. Don't you think Cinderella lives there?

Christmas Dollhouse with a Whimsical Touch!

I'm done with the Christmas dollhouse. I went totally wild with the colors on this one! Here are the pictures:
Pretty whimsical I think! I customized the primrose kit by greenleaf.
I made the little stockings. That was too fun! :) I painted the painting and frame and made a Cinderella Moments Cottage.
At first I thought about putting the Christmas tree bare and letting the future owner decorate it. But it looked sooo sad! So...
*Bing* a decorated tree!
Everything is hand painted. No wallpaper, just me and my paintbrush! I love the roses! The floor is hand carved concrete  that is hand painted. The walls are plaster.
Let's go outside....
I painted the door with an adoable print I saw on fabric(Mary Engelbreit). The Christmas lights are nonworking. I always add a plug in set on my houses when Christmas rolls around. I made the little rosette on the door just to have something different and with a vintage feel.  Those little mushrooms are by Etsy artist serenitymosaics. They are so cute!

This is a dormer I added. I put crepe paper on the peak for added cuteness. I made a window box and filled it with moss and little glossy berries. They remind me of candied apples.
This polka dot custom dollhouse was very fun to make even in the hot weather!
