Original Art

This little lamb is my newest addition. He's available on etsy. I saw a sculpture of this baby sheep and thought that I just had to paint it!!

The background is very simple. I didn't want anything to compete with the lamb. I thought bathing the lamb in light would highlight his sweet innocence. This painting is very straight forward and uncomplicated. There's the background and the animal. That's it! I think this makes the piece versatile. It could work well in any decor whether modern or country chic.

The inspiration for this lamb is a sculpture I saw in an old issue of Country Home. The little lamb was on a fireplace hearth. You could only see half of it, but I loved the idea right away. From there I searched for pictures of lambs lying down.

This sheep above is more in the primitive style. I like the way the light came out on the trees. This one is very similar in that the sheep is very light and the background recedes in darkness.
I' ve painted many chickens on everything you can imagine! This painting is definitely country French!
