A Little Barn

It was all snow yesterday here in Texas. So I had plenty of time to concentrate on finishing a little barn. This is not a dollhouse miniature. It's one of my cardboard model houses.

This was Ann's idea. She contacted me on Etsy about another barn I had made and sold. This barn is 11" tall x 7 1/2" across x 10" deep.

It has a mix of handmade leaves and flowers from my hand dyed paper, mosses, and these amazing little flowers with little purple balls I found at the store. (See the broken window?)

This is the back. At the bottom there is a tiny little hole for an electric cord  to light the inside.
It looks like a little animal made it in there!

I used plastic for the windows on both sides of the barn. And I left the front window without "glass."

I left the doors ajar for you to come in. Or for the light to shine through!

I let the barn dictate it's own color of paint. It started out with white and a couple of blue corrugated pieces. I then applied a little brown, black and silver. The finished color is so authentic that I decided to stop right there!

Here's one side of the roof. It's a white base with brown on top. Looks totally like rust.

The other side of the roof is different, not corrugated. These are silver boards with a little rust treatment.

Wanna see how it looked when I started?

This is the inside of the place. It looks just as rustic.

Here's the barn with a string of Christmas lights in it.

  2. Caroline, this is so 'real' looking. That 'rust' is so rust-like! Those tiny purple flowers suit just perfectly, for beside a barn... a little bit rampant and wild. What a fantastic job you have done on your little barn. You really do never cease to surprise me with your special talent. I love seeing what delights you will come up with next!!
    Keep up the great work!

  5. Hi Caroline, I love your little barn. The metal looks real even though it is not. I like how you have given it a rusty look. Your houses or barns are amazing my friend. They came a little while ago and cleaned out my driveway. At least it was done after they had plowed the street. I still don't know about work tomorrow because it is still snowing. Have a great day. Your Missouri Friend.

  6. It's beautiful! I love the corrugated siding!

No snow here but freezing cold. This native Californian is a wimp when it comes to weather!
