I made Humble Cottage to be like an old stone house you'd find for sale in a little European village. It's got that empty for ages look about it!
I didn't add too many details. The person who will buy this one will want to have all the fun finishing it just the way they like!
Everything is super aged inside and out. Like stepping into an old abandoned house.

Humble Cottage Dollhouse
A bit of progress on humble cottage.
I made a fake little basement shutter from bits of left over wood.
Made a nice size front stoop.
Added concrete and sculpted some stone shapes into it while it was still moist.
Painted the stones.
The front is a mix of stones and stucco. All done with the same concrete.
And this side is stucco too.
I did the floor white with a lot of water to thin it out.
I was only going to do one wall of roses, but things change!
For the door, I used hot glue to outline a design. Then painted it cream and accented with gray. I then took a utility knife and sandpaper to super age it.
The top of the outside turned out great with this nice chunk coming off.
I have to hinge the door in place and add knobs. Then maybe a bit more aging. Thanks for coming over!

Humble Cottage Dollhouse
I'm calling the next dollhouse Humble Cottage.
I'm using the Primrose kit. I've made some changes like making the front window longer, switching the door to the opposite side and doing the same with the left.
The pine stick floor is done. And I added a little bead board detail to the front wall. I used cardboard for this. Just strip off one layer to reveal the ridges.
I want to keep this cottage simple and affordable for my Etsy shop. So I'll leave off some of the extra details like furniture and accessories. I'm just concentrating on structure for this one.
Thanks for coming by and looking at the beginning of Humble Cottage!

I also cut out a window/dormer in the roof.
The interior walls and ceiling of the dollhouse have been plastered and received 2 coats of cream paint. The pine stick floor is done. And I added a little bead board detail to the front wall. I used cardboard for this. Just strip off one layer to reveal the ridges.

Hi!
I'm still here! I've been missing in action a little. But I'm ready to get back into it! I've been so busy with the mini paintings.
And bags too. But I'm gathering my materials and will start a dollhouse hopefully later this week.
So stay tuned!
Hugs all around!

Mini Artwork
This past week I've been totally into painting little dollhouse pictures.
It started out very innocently with Loretta asking me if I could paint a bunny. I told her I'd give it a shot! Then I thought I have the paint out so why not try some others.
It's turned into a new obsession I think.
The cupcake and macarons went to Athena's. Thank you Athena!
The Yorkie, pink house, roses, hot air balloon and Miss Bunny went to another mini artist Debi. Thanks Debi!
The nest and yellow house are going to Susi's! I'm so excited. Thanks Susi!
I used a real metal spoon with this banana split.
Loretta couldn't resist this bird!
She also needed a bear for her Granddaughter's dollhouse nursery.
I have a thing for dresses! I love those pictures where a wedding gown is hanging up waiting for the bride to put it on.
This one on a blueish background is also going to Debi.
So this is what I've been up to. Tiny whimsical paintings. I hope you are all having fun too! Hugs!
