A New Project: Un Immeuble a Paris Dollhouse

Hi everybody!   I hope the New Year is treating all of you well.  I have been hard at work on my new project called "Un Immeuble a Paris" (a building in Paris) dollhouse. I'm busy doing the little accessories.

There will be two shops. One is a flower shop.

The other a shabby chic type shop.

The bottom interior is almost done. There's a entry/stairway for the apartment above, the shabby shop, and the dark flower shop.

The apartment entry has grayish walls with a lot of aging.

This is done with plaster(Spackle) that is not perfectly smoothed on the wall. Then layer your colors. I use regular acrylic paint. It started with a gray base and then washing more gray and a yellowish paint. It was finished with flicking a paintbrush loaded with watered down black/brown to make spots.

The shabby shop has one wall with wallpaper. This is scrapbook paper that is already looking aged.  I made a chandelier. And the beams just need paint. 

The flower shop is also looking very old. The textured paper on the ceiling is a 3D paper in the scrapbook section.  And this chandelier is a Christmas ornament that got new paint. It's so perfect for that garden look a flower shop should have. 

I made all the doors for the dollhouse from scratch. The shabby doors are drying here. I painted them gray first. Then I brushed a generous amount of white glue on them and let that dry a bit(10 min.). Then I painted over the glue with white paint. This makes great cracking paint.  The little door is for the flower shop. It's glossed dark green. And the other door is brown/gray for the apartment. Of course all the doors "grew" after the paint. Now I'll have to sand to get them to fit in their frames.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all! I wish you a 2015 filled with all the wonderful things, good fortune, happy families, lots of love, joy and laughter and great health.  I appreciate each and everyone of you so much for all the visits and sweet comments. Thank you so much for making my 2014 a terrific year! Now onto 2015! I can't wait to see all the new minis to be created out there!

Angel Studio Dollhouse

My new dollhouse is an art studio called Angel Studio.  It's a 1/12 scale cottage with battery operated lights.

I had bought these doors for the french mansard house "La Maison de Campagne."  But they got lost and arrived 2 weeks late. I think it all worked out for the best!

I called this house Angel Studio because of these little paintings I painted of wings.  I made 2 benches, a little clay house and flowers. The pink flowers are tissue paper. 

The vines are from Hobby Lobby. I just cut them into small pieces to be 1/12th scale. The flowers are called Heathers. They come in different colors. I also cut those up  to be in scale.

The siding is birch.

Here's the little switch for the lights hidden in the chimney.

I painted a rug, more wings paintings and filled a metal tub with fabrics.

The desk is overloaded with stuff. Just like my desk is most of the time. LOL!

 There's even a snack because you can't create on an empty stomach. :D

The memo board is also loaded with ideas and projects. 

There's an old shutter behind another painting of wings. 

I made these wings out of cardstock.

On this side of the studio the wall is a chalkboard. You can get sheets of chalkboard in the scrapbook section of the craft store. I made a little camping cot and used it like a bench here.  I put an old window behind it and also more paintings, a nice big pillow, clay house, a wooden box full of tiny pine cones I got out of a potpourri set.

And on a personal note...

 Our sweet , beautiful Mia passed away Monday.  We will miss her so much. She was with us for almost 18 years. It's always so difficult to let them go. But I know she's waiting in heaven. And I thank God he loaned her to us for such a long time. Rest in peace gorgeous girl. You were such a sophisticated, good girl. ♥♥♥

La Maison de Campagne Custom Dollhouse

My french style mansard roof dollhouse is done.  It's called La Maison de Campagne.

All the chandeliers, porch light and fireplace are run by batteries and switches hidden in the 2 chimneys.

 Downstairs is the living room and kitchen. 

 I made 2 upholstered chairs, a rug, coffee table, mantel, painting of the Petit Hameau of Marie Antoinette, a little dog, plant.  The mantel has a battery operated "fire".

 In the kitchen I made a vintage stove, shelves and a table. I purchased the 2 chairs.

 Upstairs, you'll find a little atelier and a bedroom.

 I made a cozy bed and a nightstand for this room. The lace curtain is sprayed with hairspray(all the house's curtains are) so they hang properly.

 The desk in here is from a House of Miniatures kit. I made the chair by just winging it. 

 On the desk there's a watercolor set, paintbrush, oeuvres d'art in progress, a little rag.

The roof is a simulated metal roof. It's all paint effects. On the walls I used premixed concrete.

I had to make these doors. I had ordered some which got lost by the mailman. I By the time someone returned them to me it was too late. I had already made the set you see here. These doors were not hard to make but they did take an entire day.
