Farmhouse Dollhouse: Exterior

The farmhouse dollhouse exterior is coming along.
I used a concrete mix to do my brick details outside. Here it is all gray. It looks very sad! Reminds me of a jail! I made a nice colorful American flag on the side. The flag is on a plaster base.

The front door is all done. I put a shelf under the left window. I want to put some pots or a pie or ... well I'll see. But an apple pie would be cute!

The front door has its little curtain all in place!

Here's the storm cellar so the dolls can go hide from tornadoes! This side will be siding and shutters.

Farmhouse Dollhouse: Interior

I've been working on the interior of this miniature farm. I painted the brick wall and did a warm colored pine floor with nail heads.

I made a little fireplace. Very simple and primitive style. With little hand painted pictures, a couple of pumpkins, a house and a wood slice garland.

The attic has a very feminine look. I used romantic paper with roses.

This is the crystal chandelier for upstairs. There's a light in the center of it.

For the dormer I used a coordinating green stripe. I'm adding a window seat under that window.

I've already found my next project while browsing for ideas about this farmhouse. Now I can't wait to get started on that! More details to come.

Farmhouse Dollhouse: Walls and the Light Fixture

I decide to make all the walls of this dollhouse different.

The front wall is brick. The left side wall is wainscoting (made from cut craft sticks) and plaster. The space you see is for the fireplace, I think! And the other wall is the mural.

I still need to add the top piece of the wainscoting and the window trim.

This is the brick wall up close. I tried to be as messy as I could be so it looked old. I'll have to do a convincing paint job!

This is how I decided to do the light fixture. Simple with burlap and wood beads. I painted the wood rosette in red, green, dark yellow and brown.

Farmhouse Dollhouse: Mural and Tin Ceiling

I did a primitive style mural on one of the interior walls of the dollhouse.
I love painting these simple scenes! I could paint them all day long!

I made another "tin" ceiling. This is the same hot glue on cardboard technique I used before. The design is so simple on this one. I also added a wood rosette applique from the craft store.

Then I took this old paint I have. Super glob, half evaporated, thick paint full of rust and can bits...the best!  I smeared it on the ceiling nice an thick.

Then I added some silver and rust stains. I think I'll paint the rosette with color. Now I have to design the light fixture. It probably won't be a dramatic chandelier since the ceiling is pretty low. So I'm looking for some little bobble I can turn into a fixture.

This tile pulled away from the ceiling...LOVE it!

I'm Back! Starting on the Farm Dollhouse Again

Took a few days away from the miniature world and now I'm ready to work again!  I've cut out windows and doors galore.
All these windows don't leave much room for the mural I have planned. Or the fireplace! The fireplace will just have to go in the only corner without windows!

This side will have the tornado shelter. I still need to make the front porch.

miniature Dollhouse Lettuce

I decided to make some lettuce heads. I used paper leaves. These will go on the side of the farmhouse.

Next Dollhouse? Farmhouse?

I've been researching for the next dollhouse. I've been thinking of doing a little farmhouse. So I made a miniature clothesline with a miniature dress and overalls. I think I need to kick this idea around a little more.
