The Beginning of Dollhouse #2: A Thatched Roof Cottage

I started the second dollhouse this weekend.I started by cutting out a few extra windows.

I've done the plaster walls and ceilings and painted them a cream color. I also did the wood floor upstairs and stained it with a couple of different stains. It looks very old!  I also got the stone floor done. I stayed very neutral with the interior of this dollhouse.

The exterior under construction!  I want this to be a really cozy little cottage dollhouse, just like you'd find in rural Europe.

An Ice Cream Shop

This is what I've been working on for the past couple of days. It just emerged as a sweet shop!

I made the cherry, ice cream and cupcake from paper clay. That was fun!
It is a cardboard house with plaster and glitter. I loved making it!

The Old French Cottage Dollhouse

Here's an update on the progress.

I was going to go for a more shabby chic look. But the house decided it wanted to be French Country. So this is how it turned out inside!

French Style Dollhouse under Construction

I got the fireplace done this morning. I think it looks totally French!
I also did all the plaster work on the inside walls. Those are probably going to have an aged finish.
I added beams in the attic.
Then I went shopping. I got these little sticks called Woodsies to make the attic's hard wood floor.
hat's right, I'm laying them one by one! I loved doing the wood floor. It was fun!
Almost done....
 Done!
Here's a close up. I want it very old and rustic. So far it has some cracks and holes.
But it needs more. Tomorrow I'm scrapping them up!!
The hardest part is knowing what to do first! I don't want to make things harder by gluing things together and then finding out that I can't get to something. So far so good. Haven't made a huge boo boo yet!

French Cottage Dollhouse Begins

The dollhouse kit came this morning! I've cut out 2 dormer windows. The tape is there to make sure I don't do too much damage!
This is the front roof panel. It used to be a whole sheet.

Here it is back on the house. (it's just "dry" assembled)

This is the other window I've added. The one on top, for the attic.

I cut out window frames for the dormers from the cut out of the window. I glued them on straight.
I added sides to the dormers. And added  roofs.  The sides and roofs  are just  recycled cardboard shipping box pieces.  I flipped the door from the right to the left. I think I like it better there. That's also the side where the fireplace/chimney will go.
The kit is very easy. The pieces need very little sanding. There aren't too many pieces, so it's easy to assemble. It's a perfect way to start. Stay tuned!
