Cotsworth Cottage Dollhouse

Are you ready to see Cotsworth Cottage? This commissioned dollhouse turned out very cute.
It's old English style cottage. The size is 18 1/2" tall x 18" wide x 15" deep.
The exterior walls are plaster. The stone foundation is concrete.

For the thatched roofs I used coconut fiber. I think I just ordered a couple of bundles on the internet a long time ago. It's a bit messy to work with. But so cute.

The interior had to have that classic old cottage style. But the new owner, Kathie requested a light color palette. So I added a lavender wallpaper downstairs and a green paper upstairs. This keeps the interior very neutral so she can change her décor and never clash with the finishes.
 Everything is nicely aged.

Make sure you check out my fireplace mantel tutorial!

For the walkway I found these little rock pebbles at Michael's. So sweet! I just spread it over a thick layer of white glue and press in.

I'm so glad you came over!  The next house is also a commission and it's a variation on the Shabby Chic Dollhouse from my how to book.
Have a great week! And create something.
hugs,

  7. Stunning! I love the pebbled walkway....the mingled colors suit this English cottage so well. I think the turret adds the perfect old English touch. The wallpapers are gorgeous, and I love how you did all the aging....adds such character. Kathie is going to be sooooo happy with her dreamy doll dwelling! I want to sit by the fire and live there for a bit myself!

  13. Your cottage is enchanting Caroline. I too have used those mini rocks in some of my creations. I made a wishing well that really works. I put paper clay all over a hard tube & pressed the rocks into the clay. Then when it air dried I put a gloss over it to seal it.
