The challenge here was the slipcovered chairs. I wasn't sure if I could do it.

I looked at how to cover real life size dining chairs. I found this tutorial which was pretty simple: http://ruthiebemaude.blogspot.com/2014/04/easy-parson-chair-slip-covers.html
I just added a ruffle at the bottom and bows.
It worked! I love the look and had been wanting to do this for years.
Roses come out the best if you use tissue paper. You can find my rose how to on my tutorial page.
I love the look of a long planter on a table. So I miniaturized it!
Trumeau mirrors are pretty easy to make. You just build on a base piece of wood with framing pieces.
Alright! Now onto more projects! I hope you are all creating out there. Just give it a try - you might surprise yourself!
Realmente te ha quedado un comedor adorable, buen trabajo!!!

Your dining set is so cute. I love the pillows, the chair covers, the flowers. Everything. I may have to try my hand at making flowers. I just don't know if I have the patience.

Your rooms are always so nice and make me wish I could decorate my own house this way.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful, love the shabby chic washed out look to this. Jenn
ReplyDeleteThe chairs are so pretty. Good job Caroline. I am currently repurposing an old dresser I got on Craigslist. I took out the bottom two drawers & lined that section with pine boards. I'm keeping the top drawer, just putting more modern handles. When it's finished it'll be a kitchen island. You can put baskets in the bottom area or pots & pans. Whatever you like. Oh, & I'm adding a towel rack on the side & maybe some hooks for utensils. This is life-size, btw. I'm going to paint the bottom part & keep the top stained. I can't wait to finish it. I'm having fun with it.
ReplyDeleteI love the chairs, I love the interior!
ReplyDeleteI thought I posted a comment. I do like the dining set, especially the chair covers and the pretty pink roses. It will be perfect is a shabby little cottage.
