Shabby Chic Dollhouse: Doors, Walls, and Floor

This is the Shabby Chic dollhouse. If you want to see the real house here's the link:
The doors got their special aged treatment. I started with a coat of robin egg blue. Next, I covered the doors with glue and then right away with white for the front door and green for the screen door.

Next, I put the house together. Except for one wall so I could easily access the interior.

Then, the wood floor. These are little pine planks. I tried to lay them down like they are in the real house.

I tried out the little loft upstairs. It's not in place yet.

Here are the doors. The screen door still needs some trims. And the front door needs door knobs. So far everything is handmade by me. Tomorrow, I'm shopping for the fabric and more white paint!

  2. I can't believe i found this. I posted on facebook this cottage from pinterest and my daughter, who is grown, said something like i want this. Well, being a mom i thought i want it for you but impossible to have. Then i had the thought to make it but i have never made anything before like this. I don't even know what kind of wood to use or how to hold it together!! Then i see it right here that you made. Amazing. What kind of wood would a person use for this?

  3. Hi Debbie! This house is pretty easy. I even wrote a how to book on it if you want exact directions. You can find thin wood sheets at Michael's craft store. The wood needs to be thin enough for you to be able to cut. But not too thin that it would bend. The base for this house is a kit by Corona called the Primrose. Hope you try it out. The result is so cute.

  4. It's not perfect, but it's got character. You might see nail holes, stains, and even minor insect damage in the boards, all of which contributes to their beauty. find out here
