Gypsy Travel Trailer Dollhouse

I finished the day bed and I also made this long piece of furniture. In the real Magnolia Pearl trailer it has drawers, but mine will be more simple.

The day bed has lots of trims, a back roll pillow, and I put a velvet strawberry on there too.

I added some rust to the headboard.

I put a funky trim around the window on the side. And it has a pink "roman shade."

 

This is the chandelier in the middle of the caravan. I used all different colors and kinds of beads for the true gypsy look.

I haven't fixed it in place yet. That's why it looks crooked.

In the Magnolia Pearl there's a yoyo throw on the daybed. So I decided to try one. I cut out 7/8" diameter circles out of different fabrics. Then I did a running stitch along the circle and pulled the string and  stitched it closed. It made these scrunched up little flower looking things. I think they work. Now it'll just take me 20 or 30 years to finish this throw!

The bathtub dilemma: I can't find the right tub! Some are too small, too big, too short, too wrong! So I tried one out...

This is papier mache with plaster on top. It's half way done. I don't know if I will finish it. I went looking for something else and found this little pan...

I might try this out. Add feet and a weathered finish. You know of course I'll have to finish both and see which looks better. They need faucets which I'll make out of wire. I wanted to fill them with "water" but I hear the resin heats up a lot. So the first tub would definitely crack.

Gypsy Travel Trailer Dollhouse

Today, I started putting in the wallpaper.

I used Elmer's School Glue stick "disappearing purple."  It is fabulous for dollhouse wallpaper! First, you can see exactly where you put the glue, so no spots missed. Second, it makes no bubbles, no mess, no creases.
I'm adding more "tin" tile molding under the wood molding. It's not painted here. You can see my hot glue design!

I added the lace curtains to the front window. I had totally forgotten them. But it wasn't so hard to put on despite my having already put on the gold trim. 

I went looking for a little bathtub today. I didn't find what I want! I'm too picky. I have one more store to go to in Dallas. If I don't find it there I'll have to resign myself to one of the online ones.

New Project: Gypsy Travel Trailer Dollhouse

This is my new project: a trailer dollhouse!

And this is my inspiration for it: The Magnolia Pearl Airstream.

I won't be making an exact replica of this one. But it will have a very strong influence on mine.

I put the structure together except for the roof and windows. I rounded the front to look more like the Airstream.

I did the wood floor.And got started on the very detailed interior.

This is the picture that got me all excited. I think this looks so cozy and romantic.

This is what I have so far:

I'm layering the wallpaper and putting lots of trim.

I'm working on the daybed. I dyed the ruffle fabric to look old.

I started the bedspread. It needs more ruffles! I also made the iron headboard with black heavy and thick wire. Then I put these heart charms on.

Another Melphie Designed Customized Dollhouse: The Rickety Rathole

Melphie designed this and is allowing me to sell it on my Etsy Shop!

A Fairy Chair While I Wait!

These past couple of days have been fairy themed! I made this little fairy chair out of paper, metal, and fabric trims. This is available at CinderellaMoments.

I had this little cupcake I made months ago and I thought it would look too cute sitting on the chair! I made the cupcake out of paper clay.

This is the back of the chair. Those are the slippers I made a while back. They are available at my Etsy shop.

I added the buttons because I hear fairies like to collect them.

My First Dollhouse Making Class

I taught a dollhouse making class and the first students have graduated! To celebrate I have decided to list one of the houses in my shop. This is a great opportunity for someone to own a custom dollhouse for a fantastic price.

This house is called the "German Woodlands Cottage Dollhouse" by artist Melphie.

 This house has all the custom touches that makes it too adorable!

This window box  is carved plaster painted to look like wood and is filled with moss, hand made roses(you can find that tutorial on my blog), and a bee.

This chimney is totally custom.

The cozy inside has carved plaster floors, plaster walls, custom mantle, hinged door that really works, curtains.

If this works out, I would love to offer more dollhouses by other artists on my Etsy shop. This could be a great chance to have much more choices for custom dollhouses available.
Another class is wrapping up and Melphie is going to let me list another creation. This one is going to be perfect for Halloween!!!
