Frog's Cottage Custom Dollhouse

Today I started to carve on all those little bricks.

I tried to get some crooked ones going.  I do these with the ready mix concrete. The key to carving out the concrete is waiting a little bit for the concrete to get set up before you try to put your shapes in. If the concrete is too wet it will move around too much. If it's too dry it will make cracks.

I still have plenty of bricks to put on. Then I have to paint each little brick. I love using this concrete. It makes the houses very strong for shipping, yet it's not heavy.

Frog's Cottage Custom Dollhouse

I put the fireplace wall in place and painted the exposed bricks. I also painted the floors dark brown. I haven't put a finish on the floor.

The little green door is also in place. I made it all beat up. The bottom is a little eaten by moisture or mice??

I added some green mold here and there.

Tomorrow I'm moving on to the outside!

The New Dollhouse: Frog's Cottage

Time for a new dollhouse. I'm naming this one Frog's Cottage. And it will be another fairytale style house.No frog's involved though!

This is my inspiration. I found this on the web I think it's on Frog Island or something like that. Hence my chosen name. I love the atmosphere here. My dollhouse will not be a replica. But I do want to capture the essence of this place. The bricks are amazing. I love the roof  too. But I might mix it with a thatched roof.

Here's the start of this house. I used the Buttercup kit. I took the front entry wall and moved it back to get a front porch. I'm also taking out windows and changing the round windows to squares.

This is the fireplace. It is a walk-in fireplace. I thought that would be fitting for an old storybook cottage!

Here you can see just how big this fireplace will be in the house.

I already plastered the 3 walls and placed the window sashes.

Now that I made the stones around the fireplace I can paint it and glue the wall in place.

Cinderella's Fairytale Cottage Dollhouse

I finally started on the Cinderella's cottage dollhouse!

Here's the front. The turret will just be for show on this house. The cardboard tube I used for this turret is a little too small for the door(that's how I intended to use it). So I will just create a faux turret for looks only not functional.

In the attic I tried making an exposed slat plaster wall. Those are just Popsicle sticks I split and smooched into the plaster so it would ooze out all around.

This is downstairs with one coat of plaster. I also made this little fireplace with scrap wood.

I have painted 2 coats of cream color so far. I think the 3rd coat will have a soft pink tint.

This will be the downstairs ceiling. It's my special "tin" tile Victorian ceiling made by following a pattern on cardboard with hot glue. The result is a 3d tin like tile. These just need some silver for tin and rust accents.

New Project: Cinderella's Fairytale Cottage

I think my new project will be Cinderella's fairytale cottage. Not your average Cinderella though as you can see from the bed I already started above. I want to make her an amazing little retreat to get away from those ugly step sisters and horrid step mother.
Here's my plan:

We'll see if I stick to this plan! Sometimes these little houses have a mind of their own. This is how all my houses start out. I get this idea and it goes into a notebook. Those are my idea days! Sometimes I can't come up with a vision to save my life. But this little cottage came into my head. So I write down everything while the picture is in my mind.
I decided to start on some accessories. I got a dress form done to put the famous Cinderella dress on in the attic of the house. I started my pumpkins and the bed is nearly done.

Here's my drawing of the bed. As you can see this is not going to be the "poor" Cinderella version of the story.

I gathered my materials: batting and cardboard. I cut the footboard and headboard out of the cardboard the size that would fit the house.

I used a white cotton twice the size of the headboard/footboard and started my little tufted stitches.

I just closed the sides by making little corners like I was wrapping a gift..

This is how it looks so far.

It has a white fur comforter. This Cinderella has snazzy style!

I still need to put feet on it and add finishing touches.

The French Cottage Fairytale Custom Dollhouse is Complete!

The dollhouse is done! This started out as the Primrose kit. I just added some cozy touches!  And here are the pictures:
